I bought this to cure an oil leak which was contaminating the transmission brake linings. Having previously attempted a repair by replacing the oil seal and not solvied the leak, I decided to replace the flange as well. The leak has since stopped. I originally rebuilt this transfer box myself, with genuine seals and also under inspection the rear output flange was in excellent condition, with no visible seal path or wear. As a precaution, the flange was mounted in my lathe and the sealing surface honed using 400 grit wet & dry paper and light oil. All other recommended fitting procedures and sealants were used. I decided the only cure would be a new flange and seal. I did enquire about a genuine Landrover flange, but at £50 + this one from Ashcroft Transmissions is much cheaper and of equal quality
